It's 3am, he must be lonely.

I woke up to hear Graham screaming this morning and figured he was ready to eat. Turns out that wasn't the only reason he was crying:

Will caught this on camera on Sunday morning (note the disembodied hand...). There are about 9 of these videos, and this is the last one, which stops abruptly when Will realizes his cereal is getting soggy.

Weight Watchers

A nurse came last week to weigh Graham, and he is doing very well. She said he's supposed to be putting on half an ounce a day, and he ended up gaining twice that, so he's up to 9 lbs now. It got me wondering if there's any other time in our lives when we're glad to gain weight? Maybe if you're a wrestler?

Uncle Ben and Flapjack Jemima, I mean, Aunt Tabatha came over this weekend. We ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant and played a lot of Settlers of Catan, which were both fun. We also finally got a Graham smile on camera with Aunt Tabatha:














It was good to see them before they move in June. Thanks for coming guys!

An English lesson.

Waking up.

Graham's grandmas (say that 3 times fast...) have said they want more videos. Here's a rather uninteresting one (unless you're his grandma), but it answers the question of how he manages to kick off his blankets all the time.

Don't worry--we don't usually put him down without any clothes on. In this particular instance, he had wet 2 outfits in a row and then fallen asleep. We thought covering him up would be enough, but apparently it wasn't.

Oh, and Will loves the camo hat. I switch it out after he goes to work. :)

One big day for a little guy.

Last Friday was a big day for Graham. He refused to sleep, so Will brought him downstairs for tummy time (as a punishment, really). He was laying on the floor and he pushed his head way up in the air. Will said, "Wow, he's going to roll over if he's not careful..." and suddenly that is exactly what happened. Toppled like a bag of sand. We thought it was a fluke, but he did it 4 more times before he started screaming his head off. By the 4th time, I had run upstairs and got the camera, so we have it for posterity.

After that exhausting feat, he also survived his first bath, seen here:


Apparently, he instinctively knows how to clutch a lifejacket when submerged in water. Or is he just being modest?

Luckily, things have slowed down since then. His madcap life is surely something to envy.

Graham update #1

Graham is now 4 weeks old, and we can't believe it's been that long. His legs are too long for most of his newborn clothes, and he can now only wear the ones that have no feet in them. He smiles now and we know it's not just gas, although we haven't been able to capture it on camera yet. His umbilical cord finally fell off this week, and when Will threw it in the toilet, it swelled up and looked really disgusting. I am glad that is off so we can start giving him real baths.

He still pretty much just eats and sleeps all day long. Yesterday he managed to go to the bathroom all over the carpet. (Ironic, isn't it, that I call it "going to the bathroom" when the whole problem is that he can't go to the bathroom?) He and Daddy hang out together after Daddy comes home from work, and Graham usually curls up in a little ball to go to sleep on his chest. When we put him down in his crib, we have to cover up the red parts of his crib bumper or he stares at them so much that he can't get to sleep. He's only waking up twice now during the night to eat, so we've been able to get a little bit of sleep.

He is lots of fun.

The start of something not-so-big...

Well, here it is. The old ball-n-chain blog we said we'd never create. It got a little tedious sending out emails about Graham, and last time, Will forgot to include his mom. So... we've decided to post pictures and updates about him here. I'm pretty sure it will start out with much vim and vigor, then dwindle to the occasional vim. Enjoy!
