No Warm Fuzzies

As he is leaving for work this morning...

Will: Have a good day. You do a great job with the kids.
Me: Some days are better than others.
Will: Well, you do a great job on average.

Happy Birthday, Will!

Will's birthday was last week, and I had a hard time thinking of something to give him. When the kids and I went grocery shopping, we happened to walk through the hunting aisle on the way to the back of the store. I asked Graham what he thought we should get Daddy for his birthday. He only had to think for a moment before picking out a bottle of coon urine.

Thanks, but No Thanks

I got my hair cut pretty short last night, so maybe that explains Chase's reaction this morning. When I walked into the kitchen, he looked at me and yelled, "Something just got up!"

In Case of Emergency...

Last week, I decided to teach Graham what to do in case something happened to me and I couldn't help the kids. We practiced how he could unlock the door and run to the neighbor's house, and I told him that if he saw my phone, he could call Daddy. Then I showed him how to dial Will's number on speed dial.

This morning was particularly rough. Gabriella was crying because she wanted to be held constantly. Chase was screaming because he wanted me to fix something, and Graham was asking 100 million times for me to lug the basketball hoop up from the basement. I finally sat down at the table, covered my face with my hands, and said, "Graham, I just need a minute." To my surprise, he left.

I took a deep breath, got up, and went into the kitchen. Graham had the phone up to his ear. When I asked him what he was doing, he said, "I'm calling Daddy. You said if something happened to Mommy I should call Daddy."

Guess the situation must have looked pretty bleak to him.

Fixing the Floor

Here are a couple of pictures from when we put new flooring down. Two days before Christmas. With three kids who tried to help with everything. Here's one of those helpers, who insisted on wearing carpenter jeans and unused eye protection.

Graham got a John Deere computer game from Ben & Tabatha for Christmas (thank you!). Turns out, Will likes it just as much as Graham (if not more). They were playing it "with Chase". I don't think Chase was all that interested.

Fashion Advice

This is Gabriella's favorite way to push her stroller.

Remind me to never ask her whether my outfit looks okay before leaving the house.

Our Little Tasmanian Devil

Chase is a swirling vortex of entropy. This video was supposed to show how the kids like to "slap my cap" (which comes out "slat my cat") like Darby & the Super Sleuths.

However, the end of it reminds me a whole lot more of the Tasmanian Devil.

...which is now mostly about the kids.
